Summary:
Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group maintained
high phosphoric acid production in 2024-2025, leveraging leading technologies.
It also exported anhydrous hydrogen fluoride to Laos, marking SE Asian market
entry. The group aims to expand capacity, supporting China's phosphate chemical
industry.
In the Spring
Festival holiday of 2025, Wengfu Chemical, a subsidiary of Guizhou Phosphorus
Chemical Group, maintained a stable daily output of 1,100 tons of purified
phosphoric acid. Looking back at 2024, the company achieved a record-high total
production of 369,700 tons of purified phosphoric acid. Such high productivity
is attributed to a globally leading key core technology in their possession.
The microstructured-based wet-process purification technology for phosphoric
acid has positioned China as a country mastering large-scale integrated
wet-process purification technology for phosphoric acid, and has also made
Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group the world's largest supplier of wet-process
purified phosphoric acid.
This technology
originates from the "National Key Laboratory for Green and Efficient
Exploitation and Utilization of Phosphate Ore and Its Co- and Associated
Resources of Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group". Industrialization
facilities have been established in Fuquan, Kaiyang, and Xifeng in Guizhou
Province, as well as in Shanghang, Fujian, and Dazhou, Sichuan, with individual
capacities exceeding 400,000 tons, annual capacities surpassing 2 million tons,
and annual revenues topping RMB 10 billion.
Early in 2025,
Wengfu Lantian Fluorosilicon Technology, another subsidiary of Guizhou
Phosphorus Chemical Group, successfully exported 90 tons of anhydrous hydrogen
fluoride to Laos. This marks a crucial step for the company in the
international market and lays a solid foundation for subsequent expansion into
the Southeast Asian market. Behind the breakthrough in the Southeast Asian
market with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride is another globally leading technology
from the aforementioned national key laboratory – the world's first technology
for recovering fluorine from phosphate ore to produce anhydrous hydrogen
fluoride. This technology reverses the traditional approach of extracting
fluorine resources solely from non-renewable fluorite ore.
"Extracting
and converting the 3% fluorine content in phosphate ore into anhydrous hydrogen
fluoride products reduces costs by over 50% compared to traditional
fluorite-based production processes. This not only protects gradually depleting
fluorite resources but also opens up a green and circular new path for the
global industry, particularly for China's strategic fluorine resource
acquisition," explained a researcher from the laboratory. The breakthrough
in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride technology makes China the first country to
achieve industrialization of fluorine recovery from phosphate ore to produce
anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. Currently, Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group has
established a production capacity of 210,000 tons nationwide, with an annual output
value exceeding RMB 2 billion.
Furthermore,
Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group leverages this technology to produce high-end
products such as lithium hexafluorophosphate, which are crucial raw materials
for lithium battery electrolytes. The development of electronic-grade
phosphoric acid through a wet-process route is one of the laboratory's current
key research directions, and it has achieved phased results, with related
products already used in chip processing and other fields.
As the only
national key laboratory in China's phosphate chemical industry, the National
Key Laboratory for Green and Efficient Exploitation and Utilization of
Phosphate Ore and Its Co- and Associated Resources of Guizhou Phosphorus
Chemical Group has, since its approval, deeply engaged in fundamental research,
significant transformative technological breakthroughs, and the application of
results in the utilization of phosphate ore and its co- and associated
resources. It is dedicated to providing referable solutions for the green and
low-carbon development of China's phosphate chemical industry. Currently, the
research and development center of Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group has
produced over 40 core technological achievements, including mineral processing
of low-grade phosphate ore, wet-process purification of phosphoric acid, and
recovery of fluorine resources from phosphate ore to produce anhydrous hydrogen
fluoride. These achievements have constructed a grand industrial circular
development model of "efficient recovery of front-end mineral resources –
high-value development of mid-end fine chemicals – industrialized consumption
of back-end industrial by-products".
Guizhou
Phosphorus Chemical Group is currently accelerating a new round of capacity
expansion plans based on the key wet-process purification technology for
phosphoric acid. By the second half of 2025, the production capacity of
wet-process purified phosphoric acid is expected to increase from the current 2
million tons to 2.7 million tons, and reach 3 million tons by 2026. According
to relevant responsible persons at Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group, upon
completion of this capacity expansion, it will significantly enhance the
resilience and security of China's phosphate chemical industry chain and supply
chain, providing support for the development of healthcare, new energy, and
electronic information industries.
